ASTM A106 Grade B Pipe is a carbon steel pipe specifically designed for high-temperature and high-pressure service in demanding industrial environments. Known for its excellent strength, durability, toughness, and ability to withstand pressure, this material is widely used in critical piping systems across multiple industries. The ASTM A106 specification primarily covers seamless carbon steel pipes, making them an ideal choice for applications that require superior mechanical performance and reliable fluid transportation under elevated temperatures. Tricon Steel & Alloys is a leading manufacturer, supplier, and exporter of ASTM A106 Grade B Pipes, offering high-quality products for various industrial applications.
ASTM A106 / ASME SA106 is the standard specification for seamless carbon steel pipes intended for high-temperature service. Grade B is the most commonly used grade within this specification because it provides an excellent balance of strength, toughness, and fabrication properties. The material typically contains carbon, manganese, phosphorus, sulfur, silicon, copper, nickel, chromium, molybdenum, and vanadium within specified limits. ASTM A106 Grade B pipes offer a minimum tensile strength of 60 ksi (415 MPa) and a minimum yield strength of 35 ksi (240 MPa). Tricon Steel & Alloys supplies pipes in various sizes, wall thicknesses, schedules, and dimensions to meet diverse industrial requirements. Although the ASTM A106 specification specifically applies to seamless pipes, the company also offers other pipe forms, including welded, ERW, and EFW pipes for applications requiring different manufacturing methods. All products undergo rigorous testing and inspection procedures, including chemical analysis, mechanical testing, hydrostatic testing, non-destructive examination, dimensional verification, and certification supported by Mill Test Certificates (MTCs) and complete material traceability.
ASTM A106 Grade B Pipes are extensively used in oil and gas refineries, petrochemical facilities, power plants, chemical processing industries, boiler systems, marine applications, and other high-temperature pressure-piping systems. These pipes are suitable for transporting liquids, gases, steam, water, and other process fluids under elevated temperature and pressure conditions. Their excellent weldability and mechanical strength make them suitable for demanding industrial environments where operational reliability is essential. Tricon Steel & Alloys offers pipes in different sizes, schedules, lengths, end configurations, and customized specifications to support project-specific requirements. As a manufacturer, supplier, and exporter, the company serves both domestic and international markets by providing dependable material solutions for industrial projects of all sizes.

The Rolling and Welding Stage
To begin our process, we first need to go through the rolling and welding stage. The Carbon steel is placed through a checking process and cut at the edges in this stage.
Cleaning and Warming Stage
The rolled Carbon steel pipes thus manufactured are cut to the required lengths depending upon the industrial demand.
Cold-Drawing Stage
Sometimes, the required size isn’t obtained when the steel is brought through the mill directly. When using the cold-drawing process, the desired size is achieved when the pipes and tubing are coated with oxalic and soap solution and dragged over die plugs—the oxalic and soap solution help reduce friction when going through the cold cycle.
The Finishing Process
The final process is the finisher. Once the process of manufacturing ASTM A106 Grade B Pipe and tubing is completed, you’ll now have to take them to a jet printer.

What are the mechanical properties of ASTM A106 Grade B?
The grade provides minimum tensile strength, yield strength and elongation values scaled with pipe size and wall thickness, supported by controlled carbon, manganese and other alloying content.
What is ASTM A106 Grade B pipe used for?
It is used for transportation of fluids and gases at high temperature and pressure in refineries, power plants, and petrochemical complexes.
What is the difference between ASTM A106 Grade A, B, and C pipes?
The basic difference between the grades is carbon content and mechanical strength. Grade B is stronger than Grade A and Grade C is the strongest of the three.
Why choose ASTM A106 Grade B seamless pipes in India?
ASTM A106 Grade B is a seamless construction, ASME compliant size and homogeneous mechanical performance are some of the qualities that make it a suitable material for tough piping projects throughout the Indian industry.
What sizes and schedules are available for ASTM A106 Grade B pipes?
Sizes from 1/8 inch to 48 inches. Wall thicknesses conforming to ASME B36.10M in standard schedules.
