ASTM A671 is a standard specification developed by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) that covers electric-fusion-welded steel pipe for atmospheric and lower temperatures. Specifically, ASTM A671 addresses pipes used in various industrial applications where elevated temperatures are not a concern. The standard is widely recognized and used globally to ensure the quality and reliability of welded steel pipes.
Key features of ASTM A671 include its applicability to carbon and alloy steel pipes, which are fabricated through the electric fusion welding process. This method involves melting the material at high temperatures and fusing it without the use of a filler material. The resulting welded joints exhibit high strength and durability.
The ASTM A671 specification categorizes pipes into different classes based on their chemical composition and mechanical properties. These classes, such as Class 10, 11, 12, 22, 23, and 30, among others, indicate the specific requirements and conditions for the pipes. Each class is designed for a particular application, ensuring that the pipes meet the necessary performance standards.
One notable aspect of ASTM A671 is its focus on low-temperature service conditions. The standard is particularly suitable for applications where the pipes will be exposed to atmospheric and lower temperatures, making it a preferred choice for industries such as petrochemicals, oil and gas, and water supply.
We adhere to stringent quality control measures to ensure the pipes meet the specified requirements. Testing procedures outlined in the standard include tension tests, impact tests, and non-destructive examination methods, all of which contribute to the overall quality assurance of the welded steel pipes.

The Rolling and Welding Stage
To begin our process, we first need to go through the rolling and welding stage. The Carbon steel is placed through a checking process and cut at the edges in this stage.
Cleaning and Warming Stage
The rolled Carbon steel pipes thus manufactured are cut to the required lengths depending upon the industrial demand.
Cold-Drawing Stage
Sometimes, the required size isn’t obtained when the steel is brought through the mill directly. When using the cold-drawing process, the desired size is achieved when the pipes and tubing are coated with oxalic and soap solution and dragged over die plugs—the oxalic and soap solution help reduce friction when going through the cold cycle.
The Finishing Process
The final process is the finisher. Once the process of manufacturing ASTM A671 Pipe and tubing is completed, you’ll now have to take them to a jet printer.
