Duplex 31803/32205 is a type of stainless steel alloy characterized by its dual-phase microstructure, combining features of both austenitic and ferritic stainless steels. This alloy typically contains chromium, nickel, molybdenum, and nitrogen, contributing to its exceptional corrosion resistance, high strength, and good weldability. One of the primary benefits of Duplex 31803/32205 is its superior resistance to various forms of corrosion, including stress corrosion cracking, pitting, and crevice corrosion, making it ideal for use in aggressive environments such as marine applications, chemical processing, and oil and gas extraction.
Duplex 31803 Bar boasts a dual-phase microstructure blending austenitic and ferritic properties, offering exceptional corrosion resistance, high strength, and good weldability. With chromium, nickel, molybdenum, and nitrogen as key components, it withstands various forms of corrosion, including stress corrosion cracking and pitting. Widely used in industries like oil and gas, chemical processing, and marine applications, this alloy undergoes rigorous testing for mechanical properties, corrosion resistance, and weldability to ensure superior performance in demanding environments.
Due to its unique properties, this duplex stainless steel alloy finds extensive use across various industries. In the oil and gas sector, Duplex Steel 32205 Bars are utilized in equipment such as pipelines, valves, and offshore platforms, where their resistance to corrosion and high mechanical strength are crucial for maintaining structural integrity in harsh operating conditions. Similarly, this alloy is favored in the chemical processing industry for its ability to withstand corrosive chemicals and high temperatures, making it suitable for reactors, heat exchangers, and storage tanks.
When testing Duplex 31803/32205, a thorough assessment of its mechanical characteristics, corrosion resistance, and weldability is usually conducted. Tensile strength, yield strength, elongation, and hardness evaluations are the mechanical testing procedures used to verify adherence to industry norms and requirements. Corrosion testing is subjecting the alloy to corrosive conditions such as acids, saltwater, and chlorides, which represent the conditions under which it is intended to be used, and then monitoring the alloy's performance over time. Furthermore, weldability testing is crucial to evaluate Duplex 31803/32205's suitability for fabrication techniques like brazing, soldering, and welding and guarantee that welded joints retain the alloy's integrity and corrosion resistance.

Melting
The first step in the process is melting raw materials in an electric furnace. These raw materials are typically iron ore, chromium, nickel, and other elements in exact amounts.
Hot Rolling
After being heated, the billets are shaped into long, thin rods by going through a series of rolling mills. Because the metal is heated above its recrystallization temperature during this operation, it is known as hot rolling.
Pickling
The pickling process is used to the bars in order to eliminate any oxide, scale, or other surface contaminants. Usually, an acid solution is used for this.
Cutting
Lastly, shearing machines or other cutting techniques are used to cut the rods to the required length.
