What are Nitronic 60 (XM 19) Bars??
Nitronic 60, also known as XM 19, is a high-performance austenitic stainless steel known for its excellent strength and corrosion resistance. It falls under the category of superalloys due to its outstanding mechanical properties even at elevated temperatures. Nitronic 60 bars are a popular form of this material, widely used in various industries for their exceptional combination of strength, toughness, and corrosion resistance.
High Strength: Nitronic 60 bars offer impressive strength levels, making them suitable for demanding applications where structural integrity is crucial.
Corrosion Resistance: These bars exhibit excellent corrosion resistance in harsh environments, including acidic and chloride-rich conditions, making them ideal for marine and chemical processing industries.
Excellent Toughness: Nitronic 60 bars maintain toughness even at cryogenic temperatures, ensuring reliable performance in extreme conditions.
Wear Resistance: They possess good wear resistance, making them suitable for applications involving abrasive wear and galling.
Machinability: Nitronic 60 bars have good machinability despite their high strength, allowing for ease of fabrication and machining into various components.
Sizes of Nitronic 60 Bars:Nitronic 60 bars are available in a variety of sizes and forms, including round bars, square bars, hexagonal bars, and flat bars, to suit different application requirements. Common diameter ranges for round bars are typically between 6 mm to 200 mm.

Melting
The first step in the process is melting raw materials in an electric furnace. These raw materials are typically iron ore, chromium, nickel, and other elements in exact amounts.
Hot Rolling
After being heated, the billets are shaped into long, thin rods by going through a series of rolling mills. Because the metal is heated above its recrystallization temperature during this operation, it is known as hot rolling.
Pickling
The pickling process is used to the bars in order to eliminate any oxide, scale, or other surface contaminants. Usually, an acid solution is used for this.
Cutting
Lastly, shearing machines or other cutting techniques are used to cut the rods to the required length.
